Delivering children from demonic torment and fear

Repent / Occult
The Creator and God of the entire vast universe calls Himself our Father. God is a kind, loving, and faithful Father to all His children, particularly the little ones. His heart burns with love for them. We see an example of this when Jesus welcomed children to be brought to Him to be blessed. We also see Jesus healing little children who were tormented by evil spirits. We are told “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” How do we call upon Jesus if we suspect our children are being tormented by evil spirits?

1 Corinthians 8:6 NKJV  yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.

Luke 18:15-17 NKJV  Then they also brought infants to Him that He might touch them; but when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But Jesus called them to Him and said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.”

Romans 10:12-13 NKJV  For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

The Bible gives us two accounts of children whom Jesus delivered from demonic torment.

One account is of a little boy with an evil spirit who made him mute and threw him on the ground (Mark 9:17-29, Matthew 17:14-21, Luke 9:40-44). Another is of a little girl who was possessed by an unclean spirit (Mark 7:25-30, Matthew 15:22-28).

In both cases, it was the parent’s faith in the power of Jesus Christ that gained them the victory they needed for their children.

Made in the image of God, who is Spirit

God is Spirit and He created different spiritual beings. Humans are spiritual beings with physical forms who live in a time-space dimension. Most adults, however, have lost their ability to connect to the spiritual realm due to unbelief, often developed over time through human intellectualisation and hardened hearts. Young children, on the other hand, will by default be more open intuitively in the spirit because they are not blocked by logic. They can see God’s angels as well as demons (fallen angels) more easily than most of us can.

John 4:24 NKJV  God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

James 2:26 NKJV  For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Matthew 18:10 NKJV  “Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven.

Visits from demonic spirits usually result in fear. Fear is not of God. Just as the joy of the Lord is our strength, fear weakens us in the spirit. Demons frighten or terrorise children because they aim to build deeper hidden strongholds early in a person’s life when a person’s defence systems are most vulnerable. The Bible describes the devil as “a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” A lion stays hidden while stalking its prey and then ambushes it at an opportune time, preferring to pick off the weak and vulnerable first. Evil spirits use a similar strategy.

2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV  For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Nehemiah 8:10 NKJV  … Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

1 Peter 5:8 NKJV  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

Thankfully with God’s help, children will be able to distinguish what feels instinctively good and pure or what feels evil and defiling. Children may not be equipped with the linguistic maturity to fully explain what they can see or sense to us but their experiences should not be brushed aside.

It is a parent’s duty to protect their children but no parent can watch over their children 24/7 and shield them from being spiritually ambushed. The most powerful weapon of defence is the Word of God and teaching our children the authority of praying in Jesus’s name. Children grow stronger as individuals when they learn to fend for themselves, apart from their parents, and to rely on God, who is their ultimate Protector and Shield. He knows everything that happens in the unseen and He is present everywhere.

Psalm 28:7 NKJV  The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise Him.

Testimony 1: Six year old tells demon to leave

As a pastor, I have always taught our children to pray to Jesus for everything they need. One day, my six year old son and I were in the car. As I was driving, a very foul smell came out of nowhere. I couldn’t see anything but my son turned around to look at the backseat and asked, “Daddy, who is that ugly dark man at the back?” I calmly replied, “That is not something we want in our car. Remember how daddy taught you to pray by faith? Just tell it to go away in Jesus’ name.” So my son just told it to go and it did. The air became breathable again. Everything was done very calmly and joy filled our car.

Signs a child may be demonically tormented

Here are some signs that a child could be harassed by evil spirits:

  • Change in behaviour | There is a sudden change in behaviour or personality. The child becomes distressed for no visible reason or becomes very sullen and wants to hide all the time.
  • Strange visitors | They say they see dark shadows, strange scary creatures (‘monsters’), or apparitions of the dead. Toddlers may fixate on or point into space in distress, as if they are looking intently at something or someone that they don’t like. They hear strange noises.
  • Frights | They are happy and carefree one moment and then suddenly stiffen up with fear for no reason, because they can sense that something dark or menacing has entered their space in the unseen realm.
  • Distressed | They cannot seem to be comforted from their distress.
  • Won’t sleep alone | They won’t sleep alone and want to sleep with us.
  • Persistent nightmares | They have terrifying nightmares and refuse to go to bed. They wake up crying or screaming.
  • Physical marks | Scratch marks or unusual bruises begin to appear on their bodies when no one has hurt them.
  • They rebel | They become rebellious and will not listen to instructions, because they feel frustrated, angry, and desperate that we are not taking them seriously while they continue to suffer from demonic harassment.

Every culture has stories about ‘ghosts’ but the Bible shows us that the dead do not have anything to do with the living. The apparitions that children see are not “grandpa who died last year and came back to give the family a friendly message,” for instance, it is a demonic spirit (familiar spirit) masquerading as grandpa.

Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 NKJV  For the living know that they will die; But the dead know nothing, And they have no more reward, For the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, their hatred, and their envy have now perished; Nevermore will they have a share In anything done under the sun.

Leviticus 19:31 NKJV  ‘Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after them, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.

Ways evil spirits gain access to a child

Demonic torment in children is likely to become more common in families, Christian or otherwise. The world openly celebrates evil spirits nowadays. When our children innocently join in or are forced to participate, it opens the way for demons to enter in.

  • School activities | Children are made to act or sing in plays and concerts that glorify idols and false gods (which are in reality demonic spirits), and participate in pagan spiritual festivals such as Halloween that celebrate darkness.
  • Idol worship and occult at home | Taking part in idol worship and witchcraft at home is a sure way of opening up one’s premises to demonic infiltration.
  • Games | Many online games glorify witchcraft, death, bloodshed and murder. Whatever the Bible calls abominations or evil will open the door to evil spirits to come in. Children may also be given gifts such as ouija boards or asked to cast witchcraft spells disguised as party games.
  • Toys | More and more toys are modelled after demonic figures. Bringing one into the home invites evil spirits in.
  • Food and drink | Children can be given food or drinks to consume that someone has cast a spell on for “good luck”.
  • Movies and shows | Children exposed to frightening horror or gory bloody movies will have their pure imaginations corrupted by evil, which then opens the door to evil spirits.

Most Christian parents will do their best to avoid such things but we face tremendous pressure to conform to what everyone else is doing, particularly if it is part of a school-wide activity and our children are at risk of being penalised for refusing to participate.

Without knowing it, children can also be led by their curiosity to participate in the demonic and open the door to darkness. Children should never be blamed for falling victim to demonic torment.

As adults, we will need to arm ourselves with the knowledge to:

  • Maintain a spiritually unpolluted home for our children
  • Cover our children with a prayer of protection every day
  • Recognise the enemy’s schemes
  • Pray a cleansing prayer over our children from any spiritually defiling experience they may have had
  • Cast any evil spirit out of our homes and away from our children

Girding our children with God’s spiritual armour

It is crucial to teach children from a very early age about God’s strong, gentle, wise and faithful nature, and how much He loves them. They also need to know how God rules over everything with His absolute power and authority, that He makes all things for our good. We can also explain that God has assigned extremely powerful angels to watch over them and they need not fear anything. Moreover, when we  thank and praise God every day through any circumstance, we demonstrate what faith looks like and build our children’s faith in God’s love, presence, and power.

Matthew 18:10-11,13-14 NKJV  “Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven. For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost. And if he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray. Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.

The armour of God is not a metaphor, but a very real source of protection in the spirit. We help our children to put on a helmet of salvation by reminding them that Jesus is their almighty Saviour. They can learn to uphold their faith as a shield against lies and attacks and use scripture as a mighty sword to fend off evil spirits.

Ephesians 6:13-17 NKJV   Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

Age is not a determining factor of authority in the spirit. All it takes is childlike faith. Children tend to trust in God’s goodness more readily than adults. Psalm 8:1-2 wonderfully tells us that out of the mouths of children and infants will come the strength to silence our enemies. Because David had faith in God, rather than himself, he killed a giant enemy, Goliath. David was only a young teenager then.

Psalm 8:1-2 NKJV  O Lord, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens! Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.

Around the age of three, we ought to start teaching our children that ‘monsters’ and ‘invisible friends’ are not their friends, even if they look cute or cartoony. Not all evil spirits will appear as frightening apparitions, they can also appear as other children who are invisible to others that want to be ‘friends’. They may also appear to them in their dreams. If any of this happens, our children do not need to be afraid but should tell them to go away in Jesus’ name. They are unwelcome visitors. As they get older, we can begin to explain what evil spirits are.

From the age of four or five, we can begin to personalise and memorise scripture with our children. For instance, by adapting from Joshua 1:9, we can teach them to recite, “God wants me to not be afraid or discouraged because He is with me wherever I go. He wants me to be strong and courageous like Jesus.”

Joshua 1:9 NLT  This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 NKJV  “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

It is also crucial that we do not open doors to evil spirits and let them enter our homes. Astrology books, good luck charms, figurines of ancient gods, tarot cards, and so on are certainly to be avoided. Needless to say, we ought to remove all altars to idols and never allow any horror, ghost, violent, bloody movies and games to be shown or played. Also, we want to avoid all toys, stories, and characters that depict monsters, spirits, the dead, mutant, vampires, and witches etc. who cast spells, kill people, make blood sacrifices, chase demons, call upon the dead, or use magic – and be careful not to dress our children up as such. (If we take a closer look, we will find that such characters are quite prolific in Disney or Marvel.)

Testimony 2:  A doll leads to sleep paralysis

I was staying over at a friend’s place. In the early morning, I experienced sleep paralysis. I was wide awake but could not move my body, say anything or make a noise. It was as if something invisible was holding me down. I lay like that for about 10 minutes, fighting with all my strength before finally saying, “Go away in Jesus name!” Immediately, that thing lifted and I could move normally again. My friend is not a Christian, and I felt awkward explaining what I had just experienced during breakfast. Then I noticed a little stuffed doll that my friend had bought as a souvenir from a holiday trip to Nepal. I found it that it represents a channel between two spirit worlds. On hearing this, my friend was convinced by my testimony to immediately get rid of it.

In general, as a rule of thumb, any figure that is distorted from God’s original design of a human being can be seen as an abomination and insult to the Lord. When we exalt it, dress it up, tell stories about it, and make movies about it, it becomes an idol. Filling a child with such man-made idols weakens his or her defences against the demonic and blurs their discernment towards what is actually detestable in God’s eyes.

1 Corinthians 10:19-22 NKJV  What am I saying then? That an idol is anything, or what is offered to idols is anything? Rather, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons. Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?

Deuteronomy 7:25-26 NKJV  You shall burn the carved images of their gods with fire; you shall not covet the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it for yourselves, lest you be snared by it; for it is an abomination to the Lord your God. Nor shall you bring an abomination into your house, lest you be doomed to destruction like it. You shall utterly detest it and utterly abhor it, for it is an accursed thing.

The Bible shows us that during the time of Noah, God was very grieved over the imaginations of mankind that were constantly evil, and that we are returning to those times again in the Last Days. Therefore, as much as we can help it, we should not be feeding our children’s imaginations with things that God calls evil. He warns us about such things so that we don’t open doors for evil spirits to harm our children’s minds and emotions.

Genesis 6:5-6 NLT  The LORD observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil. So the LORD was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke his heart.

Matthew 24:37 NKJV  But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

Over and above everything we can strive to give our children, the best gift we can ever give them is the knowledge of and relationship with God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. They can call on the Lord 24/7.

Isaiah 54:13 NKJV   All your children shall be taught by the Lord, And great shall be the peace of your children.

To summarise, here are some things we can do to build our children’s faith:

  • Teach our children about Jesus and the character of God
  • Be a model of confidence in the Lord
  • Memorise scripture with them
  • Create a safe spiritual environment, examine what objects we have at home
  • Minimise exposure to witchcraft
  • Don’t feed their imaginations with things the Bible calls abominations
  • Teach them to tell ‘monsters’ and invisible ‘friends’ to go away in Jesus’ name

When a child tells us about strange noises, monsters or invisible friends

As parents, we have full spiritual authority to pray for the deliverance of our children from demonic torment in Jesus’ name. Children may tell us that they hear strange noises or voices, see monsters or invisible friends, feel tugged at, feel creepy sensations, are scratched at night or have terrifying dreams. They may see objects in their rooms move around on their own.

Getting to the root of why is not always straightforward. The answer could lie in a range of things, from ancestral idolatry and a history of witchcraft in a location to occult games and toys or curses cast over children. Thankfully, we can ask the Holy Spirit to show us what to pray about and how to pray!

Here are some things we can do when a child tells us about being harassed.

1. Be set apart as a family for God

First, it is crucial for us to be set apart for the Lord and stop worshiping idols and practising witchcraft. We cannot expect to command the very demons living in us to come out of our children when we are the source of the problem in the first place! We need to first turn 100 percent to the Lord, repent of our sins and ask to be filled with the Holy Spirit. God created everything that is visible or invisible, and He is above all other spiritual powers and authorities. It is through His power and authority that we are set free from the devil’s oppression. We cannot fight demons with witchcraft.

Colossians 1:16 NKJV   For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.

Testimony 3: An entire family delivered from torment after renouncing the dragon

I was about eight or nine years old when my sister and I started to hear the drawers of the cupboards in our bedroom open and close at night. Then we began hearing someone or something walk on the roof of our house. We were very frightened and told our parents. Thankfully, they believed us because they had also heard the noise on the roof almost every night. My parents invited some priests from the nearby Chinese temple to come to our home to help us, but whatever they did only worked for a while.

A relative suggested that we ask for help from a local church. When the pastors arrived, they started to pray for God to show them what to pray about and the pastor felt it had to do with the evil spirit of the dragon. He advised our parents to destroy all the jewellery, sculptures, urns, table cloths, and paintings of dragons that we kept at home, because this opened the door to evil spirits. My dad was born under the zodiac sign of the dragon and he loved to collect anything related to the dragon. They just thought it was a hobby!

The pastor asked if we would become Christians first, so that he could pray for us and keep any evil spirits out for good through Jesus. He told my parents about Jesus. My parents agreed and prayed along with him. Then with my father’s permission, their team began to destroy all of our dragon items using a hammer and saw. In the middle of this, my father’s face began to change. He became very aggressive and had to be held down by three people. A voice came out of him that was not my dad’s and said, “You can’t get rid of me.”

My mother frantically took out all the objects to be destroyed until the last one, and then my father became calm again. It seemed like a light shone on or from his face, he seemed so happy and different! This is how our entire family became Christian and committed to God. The devil is real but God is all powerful.

2. Listen and ask questions, don’t brush them off

We can encourage children to tell us everything they see in the unseen so we can test and discern what is from their imagination and what is real, and teach them to discern the difference too.

It is important that we do not add to their fear or shame, for what can be disconcerting experiences for children. Instead, we should stay as calm as possible and ask questions to help us understand the situation. “Is this the first time? How did it make you feel? Did it say or do anything?” Children can panic after a frightening episode and won’t know exactly how to talk about it. It takes loving kindness, patience, and spiritual discernment to get to the root. We ought to be careful not to lose our cool or children may feel like they have been bad or at fault.

3. Check if we played a part in unknowingly opening door to the demonic

Just as we want to keep our homes clean to protect our family from viruses, we also need to practice spiritual hygiene.

It is good to examine if:

  • Words | We have said anything that may have planted fear in them that we need to repent of and renounce. Saying something like, “If you don’t behave, I will ask a monster to take you away,”  gives permission to the enemy to torment our children. We need to ask God for forgiveness if that is the case. Children are made in God’s image and we need to be careful what we say over them.
  • Objects | We have objects with demonic, superstitious and pagan origins at home that we need to get rid of eg. ouija boards, dream catchers, evil eye, good luck charms, fairy and spirit guide figurines, occult books, posters of witches or vampires etc. We need to destroy, discard and cut spiritual ties with them.
  • Toys | Our children have been given toys that have had spells cast on them or are channels for spirits. We need to destroy, discard and cut spiritual ties with all such ‘toys’ which are essentially ‘trojan horses’ for the devil. (See testimony 2)
  • Jewelry | We received jewelry for our children that are based on fortune telling, horoscopes, and zodiac signs etc. We need to destroy, discard and cut spiritual ties with them. (See testimony 3)
  • Games | They have played ‘games’ that teach them to summon spirits, animals, mythical creatures, (false) angels, or gods or required them to agree to obey a game master etc. We need to repent on behalf our children, renounce what they have said, cut off access to, and cut spiritual ties with the games. (See testimony 4)
  • Spells and curses | Someone has brought them to a temple for ‘blessing’ by their god. We need to pray to renounce such ‘blessings’ and cancel them in Jesus’ name.
  • Exposure to the occult | They visited a friend whose family practices witchcraft or anything related to the occult and our children ‘played’ along with them. We need to repent on behalf our children, renounce what they have said or done, break any curses in Jesus’ name, and cut spiritual ties with the people who practise witchcraft.
  • Movies | They have watched horror shows. We need to repent and ask the Holy Spirit to cleanse our children’s vulnerable minds and spirits.

Once we have done the above, we can then command all spirits that entered as a result to leave our children and our homes in Jesus’ name.

Testimony 4: Cleansed from calling up spirits in a childhood ‘game’

As I was praying with some friends to repent of idolatry one day, one of them was prompted by the Holy Spirit to ask me if I had played any clapping game when I was young. My memory was suddenly triggered and I recalled that I used to play this game when I was a child. I remembered every word of the song that we had to sing during the game and it brought me goosebumps for some reason. I didn’t know why I had that feeling but I felt God wanted me to repent for singing this song and playing this game. So, I did. Afterwards, I did some research about the history of this game. I found out that it had some connection with “ghost worshipping” and summoning spirits. I am so glad that God reminded me of this and allowed me to repent and be cleansed!

Testimony 5: Delivering daughter from oppression after listening to Chinese folk story

My four and a half year old daughter woke up looking distressed, she had clearly had a poor night’s sleep, and as the morning progressed it became increasingly clear that she was feeling tormented. So on the way to school, I led her through a deliverance prayer. I had a hunch what spirit to command to leave her, because she had mentioned a couple of times that they were learning the story behind the Chung Yeung Festival at school.

She was confused why we had to command the spirit to leave, when in the story, the demon was already dead, as the prince killed him with a special sword. I explained that we can’t kill demons, but we can in the name and authority of Jesus, command them to leave us so they cannot harm us. Although it was a great teaching moment, disappointingly, after praying, I sensed that the torment had not entirely lifted.

So I went home and prayed (with desperation) and asked the Lord. He revealed that we had given this demon a foothold into her, because we had responded in fear and turned to vaccines to protect her during the pandemic.

We had responded in ways similar to the story- there was a plague and the villagers used alcohol, herbs and fruit to protect themselves, they fled up the mountains and they turned to witchcraft to deal with this demon.

I too had isolated our family — “fled up a mountain”, purchased many supplements and cleaning/ protective supplies (alcohol, herbs, fruit) and vaccinated us (witchcraft), instead of truly seeking God for His will and protection. (See Vaccines and transplants that use the tissues of aborted babies and What is pharmakeia?)

I repented for myself, for our household, and for subjecting our then infant daughter to my ways. And I then again commanded the spirit to leave, and felt a tremendous shift!

When I picked up our daughter from school, she was bouncing with joy again! Praise the Lord for His forgiveness and protection and the power of His blood and name!

Testimony 6: Cleansing son’s room of unclean spiritual influences and heritage

My three-year-old son had been waking up many times at night in panic for over a month. He told me he was scared, had seen a dark shadow figure, and wanted to sleep in our room instead. My husband, our domestic helper, and I have also experienced several demonic  encounters in our son’s room since he was born.

During a time of prayer with a sister-in-Christ, God revealed the following and led us in prayer. One, the room had been used by the previous tenant as a prayer room for occult practices and idol worship. I repented of the chants, rituals, and sacrifices performed there, and casted out all related spirits, including a dragon spirit. Next, we destroyed and casted out spirits attached to a stuffed toy that had been gifted by his grandmother. She owns an identical toy, and spells had been casted on it to channel spirits from her home through the toy. His grandmother has shown an unhealthy attachment to my son and has said things like, “He’s the only one who understands me.” Thirdly, I repented of and removed pictures of him acting in ungodly school role plays, such as portraying an elf or Santa Claus, and declared that he is made in the image of God.

After the initial prayer session, I felt led to fast and pray over the room. During this time, God revealed that a second-hand sofa bed needed to be removed which had been used by several individuals who had engaged in sinful acts.

As I write this, I am still in the middle of the fast but praise God, my son now willingly sleeps in his room without fear!

4. Pray and seek the Lord for further revelation

Sometimes, the answer to the oppression is not so straightforward, and we need to fast and pray, and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal what hidden strongholds evil spirits may have built. (See testimony 6).

Isaiah 58:6 NKJV  “Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke?

Note: Not every fearful episode is due to demonic torment though. If a child is very frightened to go back to a certain place, check if they had previously encountered some sort of physical, verbal or sexual assault there and were too afraid to tell us about it. We will need the wisdom of the Lord to address such issues.
5. Pray over and anoint our children’s rooms with oil

Once we have done our part to spiritually cleanse our homes, we can invite the Holy Spirit to fill the space and anoint the place with oil as a symbol of His presence.

6. Teach our children to talk to God

God is our children’s best Friend and Protector. He is the true Father for all eternity. Let us teach them to cultivate a relationship with Him and ask Him for help if they are ever afraid. They can ask the Lord to teach them how to pray or what to do.

Matthew 23:9 NKJV  Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven.

7. Teach our children to command evil spirits to leave

Every knee in the spirit realm must bow at the name of Jesus, and even when children pray. We can tell our children that Jesus is the Light of the world and that if there’s any bad or dark spirit that bothers them, they should tell them to go in Jesus name because the Light will always drive out darkness. Jesus is most powerful and Jesus always wins.

Philippians 2:10-11 NKJV  that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

8. Fill our homes with praise

Praising God and worshipping together regularly in our homes lifts God’s name and builds our families up spiritually. The power of praise cannot be underestimated. Sometimes, praise itself is enough to drive demons away, at least for a period of time, like how the evil spirit left king Saul when David played the lyre in worship.

Psalm 22:3-5 NKJV  But You are holy, Enthroned in the praises of Israel. Our fathers trusted in You; They trusted, and You delivered them. They cried to You, and were delivered; They trusted in You, and were not ashamed.

9. Give a prophetic child the skills to navigate

Children with a prophetic gift are usually more prone to see or hear in the spirit on a regular basis. Remember that prophet Samuel, as a small boy, heard the Lord calling him three times although the high priest himself did not hear anything. Navigating the unseen without spiritual wisdom can be very difficult, however, even for an adult. Nonetheless, we must ensure that a prophetic child’s gift is nurtured and not stifled or rejected. (This is a topic that will be covered in a future post.)

1 Samuel 3:6-10 NKJV Then the Lord called yet again, “Samuel!”  So Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” He answered, “I did not call, my son; lie down again.” (Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, nor was the word of the Lord yet revealed to him.)  And the Lord called Samuel again the third time. So he arose and went to Eli, and said, “Here I am, for you did call me.”  Then Eli perceived that the Lord had called the boy. Therefore Eli said to Samuel, “Go, lie down; and it shall be, if He calls you, that you must say, ‘Speak, Lord, for Your servant hears.’ ” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.  Now the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!”  And Samuel answered, “Speak, for Your servant hears.”

1 Thessalonians 5:20-21 NKJV  Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good.

May this sharing be a blessing to you as you seek to love the Lord with all your heart and honour Him in your household.
