Demonic covenants
God instituted covenants to bind Himself to mankind and mankind to Him forever. That is the extent of His faithfulness and everlasting love for us. Every covenant made with any spirit is eternally binding because spirits are eternal. The same can be said for covenants with demons, even if they were made out of ignorance or deception. Demonic covenants bring an onslaught of recurring issues and curses to families who are bound to unseen spirits of wickedness. How can we pray to break covenants our families have made with demons in the guise of ‘gods’, spirit guides, angels or the dead, even if they were made hundreds of years ago? Thankfully, we have the authority Jesus has given us to pray in His holy name.
Genesis 17:7 NKJV And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you.
Exodus 23:32-33 NKJV You shall make no covenant with them, nor with their gods. They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against Me. For if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you.”
A covenant with someone new does not nullify existing covenants, just as a second marriage does not nullify a prior marriage, until there is a divorce or annulment. This is a prayer to annul past demonic covenants in Jesus’ powerful name.
Philippians 2:10-11 NKJV that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
A prayer to break a demonic covenant
Please pray this prayer in your own words.
- Ask for the records of our family’s ungodly covenants to be taken out of the annals in heaven. (Revelation 20:12)
- Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the names of the ‘gods’ that our family is still in covenant with. Pause and wait for His answer. (John 14:26)
- Repent for the sins of ourselves and/or our ancestors and their iniquity to worship these god/s. (Leviticus 26:40-42)
- Break spiritual ties to the ‘high priest/s’ leading the ritual/s for the covenant/s, and declare that the words and actions of that human high priest/s have no power over the family. Declare that Jesus, our High Priest, has the greater Word, Power and Authority. (Hebrews 4:14–16)
- Declare Jesus’ blood speaks a better word and that He has paid the price to break the covenant and all its curses. (Hebrews 12:23-24)
- Repent for and renounce all gifts and offerings made to the evil spirits/demon gods. (1 Corinthians 10:20)
- Ask for the records of offerings, words, bloodletting, rituals and anything related to the covenant to be blotted out and destroyed. (Isaiah 43:25)
- Repent of food and drink offerings or body markings made in honour of the demon gods, ask for the removal of their traces in our bodies. (1 Corinthians 10:20)
- Cancel any names the demon gods have given us and children / future generations dedicated to them.
- Give back all “gifts” or “blessings” of “prosperity” or “health/long life” or “wisdom” etc. from them.
- Ask for all debts and oaths to the demon gods to be cancelled.
- Declare that the demonic covenant/s binding ourselves and our children are now broken, that the demon/s no longer have the right to kill, steal, or destroy. (John 10:10)
- Ask for the temple/s of idols built in the spirit to be demolished. (2 Corinthians 6:16-18)
- Ask for all that has been stolen and destroyed as a result of the demonic covenant to be returned and to be restored, ask for the Lord’s justice and restitution from the works of the devil. (Leviticus 6:4-5)
- Declare we have stepped outside the demonic covenant and temple and that none of it has any right or power over us, including our spouse and children, if any.
- Declare we now stand in the Kingdom of Light of Christ. (Colossians 1:13-14)
- Thank Jesus for His sacrifice for our salvation and His judgment of our oppressors. Now, make a generous offering to Jesus in response.
Hebrews 12:23-24 NKJV to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.
1 John 3:8 NKJV He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
May this prayer be a blessing to you as you seek to love the Lord with all your heart.
