Lesson 31 | Spot Satan’s footholds

Summary of key points

1. The Holy Spirit led Jesus to be tempted by Satan in the desert as a demonstration, to teach us how to stand against our enemy.
2. Jesus used God’s Word to defeat Satan in each of the devil’s three attempts to tempt Jesus.
3. Similarly, Satan and demons will target our legitimate needs, corrupt our spiritual gifts, and deceive us into worshipping idols, but they have no real power over believers (with four examples).
4. Satan and demons can only succeed against us if we allow them to manipulate our hearts and minds (with five examples).
5. We need to defeat Satan’s deceptions by finishing the lies he deposits in our thoughts with the truth.
6. All believers need to be aware of how Satan and demons target churches and corrupt our true worship and understanding of God.
