Lesson 33 | Curses of idol worship

Summary of key points

1. The first time we read about a curse in the Bible is in Genesis 3.
2. God created mankind to increase in blessings but sin brought curses onto this earth.
3. Curses result in adversity, tragedies, disasters, sickness, and mishaps.
4. Idol worship is a direct rebellion against God’s Law and evokes curses (includes examples).
5. Idol worship yokes us to Satan and demons, and leads to spiritual oppression, defilement, and deceit. 
6. Many cultural and family customs cherished by Asian believers are rooted in idol worship, which God hates.
7. The Bible also clearly states in black and white that anyone who practises idolatry will not be allowed into heaven. This includes people who consider themselves followers of Jesus.
8. We need to repent of idol worship and pray for those who are still practising idol worship.

1. How will you respond the next time your family asks you to join in worshipping idols or the dead?
2. What items do you have that you need to destroy and discard, in order to remove Satan’s footholds?
