Accepting Christ

Prayers
There is no greater gift than a relationship with God – for eternity. Here is a prayer to receive Jesus into our hearts and commit to following Him for the rest of our lives.

Genesis 15:1 NKJV After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”

Isaiah 45:5 ESV  I am the Lord, and there is no other, besides me there is no God…

A salvation prayer to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour

Thank you, God, for You have loved me even before I knew You.

1 John 4:19 ESV  We love because he first loved us.

You love me so much that You sent Your Son to die for my sins. You do not condemn me, You want to save me from the consequences of my sins. Jesus rose from the dead after three days, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

John 3:16-17 ESV  “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Today, I accept Jesus as my personal Saviour and Lord. I choose to die to my old way of life and thinking, and commit to following Your commandments in the Bible and listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit in my heart. I humbly offer You my life to be made new, to be more and more like Jesus Christ each day.

Ephesians 4:22-24 ESV  to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

Thank you that I have now been reconciled with You because of Your mercy. This is not because of anything I have done or can do to earn Your favour.

Romans 5:10 ESV For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.

Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Your favour is on me because I have chosen to follow Jesus Christ, Your Son.I am now made a co-heir with Jesus to His heavenly privileges.

Romans 8:16–17 ESV  The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

I will joyfully love and obey You, because I can trust in Your unwavering love for me (Ephesians 2:4-5). I no longer have to feel like an “orphan”, feeling unloved or rejected.

Romans 8:15 ESV For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”

Thank you that Your Holy Spirit will be with me all the time and that You even watch over me while I sleep.

I no longer have to live in fear of anything (1 John 4:18). If I fall into sin, I know I can quickly turn back to You and You will welcome me with much rejoicing.

Luke 15:7 ESV  Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.

[ As I am also baptised, I invite the Holy Spirit to raise me to a new life as I bury my old life in water. Come live in me and make me new. ]

Acts 2:38 ESV  And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

In Jesus name, I pray.”
