Hospital stay

Prayers
No one wants to see someone they love in the hospital if they can help it. How can we pray for someone whose loved one has been admitted into the hospital as a result of injury, sickness, stroke, or heart attack?

A prayer for someone in hospital

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you that You know everything that will happen and You have brought (insert name of loved one) to the right doctors in the right hospital in time.

We pray for his/her entire family to hear and sense Your guidance and great comfort at this time.

2 Corinthians 1:3-5 ESV  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.

We ask for (insert name) to recover according to Your good and perfect will.

Romans 12:2 ESV  Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

We bring all our requests, questions, doubts, and fears to You, knowing that You promise to hear and respond as we humble ourselves before You. Please give the family the quiet assurance that You will faithfully lead them, like a good shepherd, as they seek You.

Philippians 4:5-7 … The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

In this time of upheaval and distress, please move others to help whenever the family needs assistance and support; whether logistically, emotionally, physically, or financially. May their bodies also be kept healthy and their spirits, strong. In addition, we pray a blessing over the doctors and nurses at the hospital. May You sustain their health and give them wisdom too.

Hebrews 13:16 ESV  Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

3 John 2 ESV  Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.

Please bring godly believers who will faithfully pray for and speak life-giving words of wisdom and comfort to their hearts during this difficult time, and remind them of the hope we all have in Christ.

Ephesians 4:29 NIV  Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

We pray for the times when our faith will waver and ask that Your Holy Spirit lift us in those times of weakness. We also forbid the enemy from stealing the joy, hope, and love that lies ahead of us.

Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV  Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Whether there is any need for family reconciliation, may it happen now, so that beyond physical healing comes greater spiritual healing and joy too. May You unite all in love.

Matthew 5:23-24 ESV  So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

We ask that this time be used to bring glory to Your name! May all see that You reign over all in sickness or in health and that You are good and faithful to all those who submit faithfully to You.

Psalm 66:2-5 NLT  Sing about the glory of his name! Tell the world how glorious he is. Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! Your enemies cringe before your mighty power. Everything on earth will worship you; they will sing your praises, shouting your name in glorious songs.”…Come and see what our God has done, what awesome miracles he performs for people!

In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
