A prayer over family welfare

Family

Prayers
God gives us all families to share His love. Let us pray that our families are good testimonies for Jesus Christ, with some of the same fervour that the apostle Paul prayed for the Ephesian church (see Ephesians 1:16-21). Every single member of our family needs our Heavenly Father’s protection, counsel and guidance to shine His light to this broken world.

Ephesians 1:16-21 I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.

A prayer for our families

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for giving me this family. Thank you that your angels guard the comings and the goings of those who love You.

Psalm 121:1-2,8 ESV  I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.

Help me to value everyone just as You do, and to accept each person’s quirks and idiosyncrasies. Show me whom I need to forgive and whom I can extend more of Your grace and love to.

Thank you that You are sovereign and in full control, even when the circumstances for some family members are difficult. I praise Your holy name for what You will do, thank you that Your plans for my family are always the best.

Jeremiah 29:11 ESV  For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Please help us in our times of weakness and remind us to praise You for both the good and bad times. We choose to put our faith in what is unseen, rather than what is seen.

2 Corinthians 4:18 NLT  So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

At the same time, we command all spiritual activity in this family that’s not of God to cease and desist in Jesus’s name, for the enemy’s voice to be silenced and for the Holy Spirit to convict hearts and turn the eyes of Your people to You alone.

Bless every time the family gathers in Your name and give us many opportunities to pray together as a family, united in Your love.

Colossians 2:2 ESV  that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ,

May this family be a light on a hill that shines your warm glowing love to all those around us! We lift Your name on high and ask for Your banner of love to always fly over us. Teach us how to laugh, cry, celebrate and bond together, for the glory of Your name.

Matthew 5:14 ESV  “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.

1 Peter 2:9 ESV  But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

In Jesus’s name, we pray, amen.
