God’s will

Prayers
Many Christians desire to know what is God’s will for them. In a broad sense, our Heavenly Father has already provided the answers in the Bible. God promises us that He will make everything beautiful in its time. His will for us to simply be joyful and to do good as long as we live. Here is a prayer that seeks to honour God’s will for our lives.

Ecclesiastes 3:11-13 ESV  He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil—this is God’s gift to man.

A prayer to honour God’s will in our lives

“Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for Your immense love and for Your amazing creation. We thank you for creating me and giving me the opportunity to be called Your son / daughter. What a wonderful Father I have, who watches over me every day and night and never leaves my side.

Psalm 121:5-8 NIV  The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

Thank you that You are in absolute control of everything that goes on in my life and I need not be anxious. I will place my hope in You alone and remember to thank you in all circumstances because this is Your will for me.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 ESV  Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

I will seek to love You with all my heart, soul and mind, because this is Your first commandment.

Matthew 22:37-38 ESV  And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.

Father, this world is full of temptations and misleading promises that do not lead me to You. You know all the things that make it challenging for me to love You with an undivided heart.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 ESV For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God.

Please give me the wisdom I need to stay pure and pleasing to You, so that I do not take Your name in vain. Renew this heart inside me as I come to You each day in humble repentance and adoration.

Ephesians 5:17 ESV  Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

What an honour it is to do good and bring Your love and truth to those around me. Show me where I am to go and be a light for those who need Your restoration, healing and love.

1 Peter 2:15 ESV For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people.

As I come to You each day, please give me all that I need for the day to endure any troubles and inconveniences, so I can joyfully complete Your perfect will for me.

Hebrews 10:36 ESV  For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.

I pray that all believers will honour Your name, by living upright lives and walking humbly before You. I pray for unity in the body of Christ; that we will all fearlessly worship You in spirit and in truth.

1 Corinthians 1:10-13 ESV  I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.

John 4:24 ESV  God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

I pray that the hearts of all mankind will be softened, so that all of us will come to an accurate and true understanding of Your perfect love. No love on earth is like Yours, oh Father.

1 Timothy 2:3-4 ESV  This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Thank you Father, for Your perfect and good will for me. I anticipate all the good work that You will do in my heart and life, so that I will be a vessel for Your Holy Spirit that overflows with Your perfect love to all those around me.

Philippians 1:6 ESV  And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

In Jesus’ name I pray, amen!”
