Family iniquity
Our Heavenly Father created fathers and mothers to reflect His tender care, loving goodness, and faithfulness to their children. Those who honour the Lord and teach their children His Word will leave behind generations of men and women who are blessed and great on this earth. Families that worship idols and continue in iniquity, on the other hand, will reap the opposite. Wickedness and evil spirits will dominate their households. They will struggle to prosper and live in peace, as the enemy of their souls continues to kill, steal and destroy. Relationship, health, anxiety and financial issues plague their generations until someone makes a stand to follow Jesus and renounce their family iniquity for themselves and for the next generation. Thank God for His mercy and for the sacrifice that His Son Jesus made for our sins.
Proverbs 20:7 NKJV The righteous man walks in his integrity; His children are blessed after him.
Psalm 112:1-2 NKJV Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, Who delights greatly in His commandments. His descendants will be mighty on earth; The generation of the upright will be blessed.
A prayer to renounce one’s family iniquity
“Dear Heavenly Father,
I acknowledge the wickedness in my family bloodline and the iniquity of my forefathers, for we have sinned against You.
Jeremiah 14:20 NKJV We acknowledge our wickedness, O Lord, and the iniquity of our fathers, for we have sinned against you.
Lamentations 5:7 NKJV Our fathers sinned and are no more, But we bear their iniquities.
Father in heaven, I come before You to renounce the iniquity of my forefathers and how we have dishonoured You and perverted the things of God. I also confess my own iniquity for I also have sinned against You.
I now confess all known and unknown transgressions in my bloodline, including (please renounce everything listed below and fill in as many details as possible when it comes to the sins that you are aware of):
- Abortion (Leviticus 20:3-5)
- Adultery (Leviticus 20:10)
- Blasphemy against God (1 Samuel 3:13-14)
- Cursing father and mother (Lev 20:9)
- Divination/fortune telling (1 Sam 15:23)
- Drunkenness (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)
- Greed and theft (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)
- Enmity, dissensions, divisions (Galatians 5:19-21)
- Idol worship (Ezekiel 44:12)
- Ignoring the needy (Isaiah 32:6)
- Incest (Leviticus 20:11-12)
- Lying (Jeremiah 9:5)
- Murder (Numbers 35:31)
- Practising homosexuality (1 Cor 6:9-10)
- Presumption (1 Samuel 15:23)
- Sexual immorality (1 Cor 6:9-10)
- Sex with animals (Lev 20:15)
- Strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries (Galatians 5:19-21)
I repent of following patterns of my family that are nothing like Yours, Father God. We idolise security, self-image, money, success, possessions, self-righteousness, power (please list as the Holy Spirit prompts you). Today, I give my life to Jesus, my Lord and Saviour, and commit to following and obeying You, and You alone. I turn from the ways of my earthly family and choose to become a citizen of heaven, with God as my King and Master. Jesus, please take the throne of my heart and guide me in my ways. Holy Spirit, please come and fill me.
Luke 14:26 NKJV “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.
Philippians 3:20-21 NKJV For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.
Where I have dishonoured my parents, people that God created in His image but have been oppressed by darkness, I now repent. I confess I have despised them, mocked them, scorned them, cursed them (please confess as the Holy Spirit prompts you). Please forgive me. I renounce all unkind words that I have spoken, including (please specify as the words spoken that the Holy Spirit brings anything to mind).
Proverbs 30:17 NKJV The eye that mocks his father, And scorns obedience to his mother, The ravens of the valley will pick it out, And the young eagles will eat it.
Deuteronomy 27:16 NKJV ‘Cursed is the one who treats his father or his mother with contempt.’ “And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’
Your Word tells me that I do not wrestle against flesh and blood. I acknowledge that when anyone in my bloodline offered anything to an idol, they opened the door to demons to operate in our bloodline. Every offering forms a covenant with a demon that is everlasting until someone in our family renounces it in Jesus’ name. Praise God that Jesus’ blood sacrifice is far superior and all supreme!
Ephesians 6:12 NKJV For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
1 Corinthians 10:19-20 NJKV What am I saying then? That an idol is anything, or what is offered to idols is anything? Rather, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons.
Today, I renounce all covenants made to demons in my bloodline, particularly the gods of our ancestral land such as (please list all gods, immortals and spirits your family worshipped for the past four generations, as the Holy Spirit leads you).
I command all evil spirits connected to all that I have confessed to leave me in Jesus’ name. You must go to the pit of fire, never to come back. Remove all curses from me.
Today, I choose life for my children and me. In the name of Jesus Christ, I declare the blood of Jesus speaks a better word for me and my iniquities, and I cancel all curses that have come down from our family iniquity. Today, I depart from my family’s iniquity as well as my own. Thank you, Father God, for Your loving mercies.
Deuteronomy 30:19 NKJV I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;
2 Timothy 2:19 NKJV Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”
In Jesus’ name, amen.”
