Jesus frees ex-Hindu from demonic spirits

N turned from Hinduism a few years ago to follow Jesus. After he learnt of the need to also confess his sins and repent of his family’s ties to Hindu deities and occult practices, N experienced deliverance from demonic spirits as he went through an inner healing and deliverance prayer. He now walks in greater peace and love from God. Praise God!

I turned to Christ about five years ago after having been a Hindu all my life.

Even though I was a Hindu, my knowledge and understanding about Hinduism was weak. The task of praying and following Hindu rituals was almost exclusively taken care of by my mother. The concept of God felt distant.

With Christ, I was beginning to feel a personal connection that I never experienced before. I began to feel a change in my outlook to life. As the journey began, I gradually understood some of the promises mentioned in the Bible. For instance, the Bible says that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and that our sins are FORGIVEN when we confess and repent of our sins.

The thought that God would forgive me when I repent took a while to sink in after having been conditioned with the concept of karma.

It was a liberating thought that my sins have been forgiven and I didn’t need to worry about how my past sins would play out into my future.

Sometime last year, a friend invited my sister and me to attend the Love The Lord course as she felt a prompting that the course would benefit us.

The course opened our eyes to how our past occult practices and inner vows were operating as a “curse” and affecting our relationship with Jesus.

“Occult practices put us under the direct influence of demons” and may have led us to cross an invisible border into the kingdom of Satan, making us one of his subjects – a situation that only Jesus could help us with.

1 Corinthians 10:19-20 NIV  Do I mean then that food sacrificed to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything? No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons.

At the end of the course, I went through an inner healing and deliverance prayer with the assistance of prayer counsellors. As I was heading towards the venue for the inner healing and deliverance prayer, I was burping more than normal. I initially thought that this was a medical condition that needed to be looked at. As I was going through the inner healing and deliverance prayer, seeking forgiveness for occult practices, inner vows and my sins, I was burping more and more.

The burping was a sign that the unwanted spirits were leaving me by the authority and power of Lord Jesus.

The deliverance was loud and clear as the burping continued for quite some time while I repented of my past involvement with occult practices and idol worshipping. The list of such practices was extensive. It included, visiting temples, fortune tellers, psychic, palm and face readers, as well as reading horoscopes.

Our family was influenced by people from a tribe that was known for its shamanism, and was also guided to renounce and rebuke any black magic or sorcery that may have been used against me and my family. We had also requested the Holy Spirit to guide us of any occult practices that I may have overlooked. The prayer counsellors sensed that some spirits that have previously brought darkness were reluctant to leave, and they had to be commanded to leave me in the name of Jesus.

It was an amazing feeling afterward – I literally felt lighter and didn’t feel bloated.

I had not noticed the feeling of being bloated over the course of many years. Now, with the help of Jesus, the evil spirits were leaving me. I also generally felt calmer and didn’t feel as “rushed” after the deliverance.

It was reassuring that, at the beginning of the inner healing and deliverance prayer, a prayer counsellor felt that a “hurricane came from above and crushed all the idols and images”.

Some years ago, I had made a huge mistake that had a profound impact on me, my family, and many others. The Holy Spirit showed that my pride and ego had contributed significantly to the making of such a mistake. I had become too confident and self-reliant and believed that I could handle the situation.

I didn’t feel I could ask for help – not from people nor from God.

During the inner healing and deliverance prayer, the Holy Spirit took me to a journey into my past to when I was much younger. This journey helped me to correct some misconceptions I had of events as a child and my views on family members.

It also helped me to understand that I was ignored as a kid and experienced a great level of isolation as our family was too busy dealing with issues concerning the family business – these experiences formed the foundation of being self-reliant and planted the seed for the sin of pride.

Through the Holy Spirit’s guidance, I forgave some family members as I did not feel affirmed, guided, and acknowledged when growing up. I also cut ungodly soul ties with another family member as I had based on certain misconceptions idolized him.

The optimism that I carried in the past was built on my own perceived strength and ability and not built on faith in God.

The Holy Spirit also brought out some of the inner vows that I made as a result, essentially that I had to make money and take care of my family – forgetting that it is God who actually takes care of us. I repented and sought Jesus’s forgiveness for such vows.

After turning to Christ some years ago, I started to lean on Him but I was reminded that I had been selective in turning to Him and would ask Him for help on matters that I felt I couldn’t handle.

I needed to surrender everything to Him and open up every part of myself to Him.

I was reminded that I needed to forgive myself. If I didn’t, then Jesus’s forgiveness of my past sins would be in vain. It is also important to not let the past forgiven sins to be a hindrance in loving yourself and others.

During the inner healing and deliverance prayer, I was identified as the younger son who returned to his father in the parable of the Return of the Prodigal Son. It is assuring and heart-warming that I am accepted by Jesus and that He will forgive me for everything when I repent and turn back to Him. It was also mentioned that I will have the gift of prophecy to build God’s kingdom.

I am truly humbled and grateful for His love and pray that He will allow me to continue to build on this personal relationship with Him.
