Jesus cleanses project manager from demonic encounters
S had recently suffered the loss of her dad and decided to seek the Holy Spirit’s comfort together with other sisters-in-Christ. During the prayer session about her family, the Holy Spirit brought back memories of demonic encounters related to her father’s ancestral home due to the family’s idol worship and occult practices. As she prayed to cut ungodly soul ties, S was freed from unseen spiritual oppression. Praise God!

I have been a Christian for almost two decades.
God has been healing my different wounds and pruning me from season to season. I know this process will not stop as we are all imperfect, like my first inner healing and deliverance prayer back in 2020. God not only healed me and freed me from the shame of sexual impurity, He also revealed my deeper anger and disappointment towards my mom during my childhood. (I was not aware of it at all as we get along quite well and never had any serious fights).
The Holy Spirit led me to forgive my mom for neglecting my emotional needs and poured out His love into my heart. After my first inner healing and deliverance prayer, I can appreciate my mom and truly love her out of my heart, instead of out of responsibility as a daughter.
My dad suffered from a kind of brain degeneration in the past few years, and he went to be with the Lord in the end of 2021.
Yes, it is heartbreaking for me as my dad and I were pretty close but I did have the peace from our Heavenly Father. God has been so faithful and good to me. Nevertheless, I felt it’s also time to do an inner healing and deliverance prayer again to let God comfort me deeply through the grief of losing my dad.
I was asked to provide some information related to my dad and my family before the prayer session. To my surprise, on top of the questions I received, my prayer counsellors sensed that I needed a deeper cleansing work from some occult and witchcraft practices. I thought all these had been dealt with in my first inner healing and deliverance prayer and I did not “feel” any oppression in my daily life. Honestly, I would not have thought or expected that this would be the focus of my second inner healing and deliverance prayer.
During the week before the prayer session, I was very emotional without any obvious reason. I also had headaches from time to time — which is very rare for me.
I did not pay much attention whether they were spiritual attacks or spiritual oppression, I just thought it was probably related to my work stress and poor quality of sleep.
In my heart, I really did not think I still had any past occult to deal with.
Not long after the prayer session started, my prayer counsellors sensed a very strong spiritual oppression and all of them had headaches. They asked me if I had any headache and sensed the heaviness from the spiritual oppression. On a scale of 0 to 10, with 0 representing lightness and 10 representing heaviness, what was my answer? I told them my answer was 1. I was shocked that their answers were over 6 or 7! I wondered why I could not sense that.
As we continued, the Holy Spirit began to help me recall some spiritual experiences when I was young, long before I became a Christian.
The first one was a memory in my dad’s ancestral village when I was around 8 to 10 years old. I remembered I sensed a giant dark spirit in front of me one night, when my cousin and I wanted to pass through a gate. When we reached the entrance of the gate, I saw a very tall being that seemed to reach the ceiling in front of me. I remembered I had to move my head up to look at it.
It was so real to me, I had to stop at the entrance. I felt like it was blocking my way. I was scared and wanted to escape from this dark being.
My cousin said she did not see or sense anything. She was scared simply because of my reaction.
I grabbed my cousin and ran into someone’s home nearby as I could see the house lights were on. No one was in the house, and we waited for a while (I also calmed myself down) before heading back to the family home.
When we went back home and told my parents and other family relatives in the village about what I experienced, they simply did not take it seriously and said it should have been another villager, not a spirit. But I knew it was not another villager for sure, because if it was, that villager should have come to the house we ran into to check on us even if he/she just tried to tease and scare us. Secondly, we did not hear anyone passing by at all when we waited in that house.
From this experience, I allowed the fear of evil spirits to enter my heart as I thought that the one I saw was powerful.
The other experience I had also happened when I was around 8 to 10 years old. This time, I was at home. One evening, I was sleeping on the top of a bunkbed and suddenly, I felt like my spirit left my body and began floating. I remembered I could see things around me while I was in that floating state, including my parents who were sleeping in the other room. I was terrified.
I remembered I prayed to everything possible (as I did not know Jesus back then) to let my spirit come back down to my body.
My prayer counsellors then shared that I could have been spiritually awakened when I was young through my family’s occult practices, so I could sense things and have all these spiritual experiences. But such spiritual awareness was not through the Holy Spirit so therefore, I may have gotten so used to the presence of the spirits that I was not able to discern their oppression any more.
Also, when I reached out to different spiritual powers to let my spirit return to my body, I gave them authority over me.
All these experiences with the evil spirits could not stop me from knowing God. Our God is greater and He never fails! Since I became a Christian, Father God has been guiding me patiently on my journey with Him. He sent the Holy Spirit to help me to know His Word, Wisdom, Truth, and Love.
He knows very clearly what I have been through, even when I could not remember or realise it. He wanted to set me free from the bondages of these unclean spirits. So when I came to Him and sought for His help in prayer, He showed me and led me to command all these unclean spiritual powers to leave me and break all the related bondages and curses.
So we prayed and I repented for bowing down to all the evil spirits during those experiences and cut ungodly soul ties with all the other false gods and idols my family worship.
When we continued praying, one of the prayer counsellors got a vision of something that looked like a blue-coloured “thousand hands buddha”. I had no clue what it was about at the beginning but after a while, the Holy Spirit reminded me about one of the songs I knew very well since my teenage years. It was a pop song by a British band and the lyrics are all in Sanskrit.
When I checked, the song was about a Hindu prayer to Krishna. I felt the Holy Spirit ask me to repent and cut spiritual ties, not only with this particular song and band, but with all the music I had listened to throughout my adolescence. This was because I used to obsess about all these musicians and bands. All these kinds of music (pop, rock and dance music) influenced me a lot while I was growing up and they became part of my identity.
Even though I do not really listen to them now, I was not aware how these kinds of music had been affecting me spiritually.
I repented for idolising all those bands and music, and cut ungodly soul ties with the demonic influences behind them. I also felt that I needed to throw away all the albums I collected during that time.
Just as I was thinking to myself, “I did not expect and realise that I indeed had a lot demonic influences while growing up, even the music I used to listen to…” the Holy Spirit continued His revelations. He gave one of the prayer counsellors a word of knowledge, “tribal dance”. God is good and He really wants me to be cleansed from any occult and false spirits.
I then recalled all the different tribal dances I had watched through my leisure travels and business hospitality trips.
This included a Yunan tribal dance, a campfire dinner in South Africa hosted by the local tribe, and an Islamic spiritual dance in Turkey. I prayed to cut all ties with these dances and break any curses behind these dances.
The Holy Spirit also reminded me about a church that was decorated and furnished with human bones which I had visited in Czech Republic. (Note: it is called The Sedlec Ossuary, which is a Roman Catholic chapel). I also prayed to cut ties with this church, all the human bones, and the unclean spirits attached to them.
As mentioned in the beginning, I started having headaches a few days before my inner healing and deliverance prayer. When I started my repentance of the different occult, the headache went away. And I also felt the sense of heaviness disappear.
Right after the whole session of prayer, I felt lighter and refreshed immediately.
2 Corinthians 6:14-17 ESV Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, “I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.”
I really repented for my pride and ignorance about spiritual deception, and how I relied on my own understanding instead of being humble to listen to the Holy Spirit to discern what is really going on in the spiritual realm. In the past, I thought cutting ungodly soul ties on a daily basis was a bit too much and unnecessary. I would do it only if I had any particular event related to idols. But now, it has become my daily routine and I cut soul ties before I sleep every day — this world is filled with many idols that we are not aware.
It’s not because I was told to do so or out of fear, but I realise that I need to be on guard and protect myself through the power of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.
Moreover, I notice that I am genuinely in awe of God’s holiness (not just from a head knowledge) after my prayer of repentance of the occult!
In the past, I only felt like kneeling before God when I was so desperate for His help. But on the first Sunday service after my inner healing and deliverance prayer, I could not help but kneel in awe during the worship time because He is holy — so holy and worthy of all our praises! It’s like a glimpse of Heaven to me – all creatures bowing down before our God to worship Him day and night.
Do not be caught off guard – John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy – when the thief (enemy) comes, it will not make a big sound to let you know of its presence. So we need to be alert and rely on the Holy Spirit to help us discern what is spiritually unclean and defiling.
God created all of us and He also created marriage and family. So He cares about our family more than we do! The Holy Spirit also led me to repent of all my judgements (out of my pride and earthly performance) towards my family, including my parents and my two brothers. Once again, God poured out His love into my heart and my family. After my prayer, I can see the difference in our relationships.
First of all, I do not get frustrated easily about my brothers or try to arrange (or “command”) things for them. Secondly I started honouring them, including their suggestions and actions for the family.
I can see there are more genuine exchanges between my two brothers and me – our relationships are slowly transforming.
As for my mom, God definitely wants me to see how He sees my mom – she is SO lovely with a simple heart. I did not realise my mom was so adorable before. God also comforted me that He has blessed my family with simplicity (i.e. simple desires and innocence) and assured me that my family is in His mighty hand. Praise God!
