Name dedication
God Almighty has lovingly assigned a name to every human being that He gives breath to. The Lord sent the angel Gabriel to tell Mary to name the Son she was about to conceive as a virgin through the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus. Similarly, the Holy Spirit will tell parents what names to give their children if they seek Him. Unfortunately, many of our parents don’t do so. In fact, some even turn to divination, superstition, and pagan rituals to select our names. Here is a prayer to re-dedicate our name back to the Lord Jesus.
Ephesians 3:14-15 NKJV For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
Luke 1:30-31 NKJV Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus.
“Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for sending Your Son to die for my sins and redeem me as Your child. I am here to dedicate my name and my destiny according to Your will in heaven.
Galatians 4:4-5 NKJV But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
Where my parents and forefathers have consulted fortune tellers, witches, almanacs, “generation poems” or spirits of dead ancestors for my name and date and time of birth, please forgive us. I renounce the divination done by my family bloodline and all ungodly prophecies spoken over us.
Leviticus 19:26 NKJV ‘You shall not eat anything with the blood, nor shall you practice divination or soothsaying.
Where my parents chose to name me after a god, goddess, or pagan figure so as to invoke their magical qualities, or based on an astrological birth chart or zodiac elements, I now ask for forgiveness. I reject any and all such spiritual “blessings” and “family fate” that are not from You, Lord Jesus.
Where my name has been written and placed in any place of idol worship, I renounce that as well and cut all ties with the spirits worshipped there. I choose the name that is written in heaven for me. In Jesus’ name, I cancel all covenants and curses and cut all ties to the spirits involved. I command all related spirits to leave me now in Jesus’ name. Go to the abyss and never come back.
Luke 10:20 NKJV Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”
Father in heaven, I humbly ask that You please show me the name You have chosen for me in heaven. Thank you Lord.
Revelation 2:17 NKJV “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it.” ’
