Unbelief

Prayers
The Bible shows that Jesus worked mighty miracles wherever He went – except in places where there was unbelief. Our prayers are made meaningless if we don’t believe that God has already answered them. Thank God that our faith only needs to be the size of a mustard seed in order for God to work miracles in our lives!

(See Chinese versions: 简体中文 > 不信) | 繁體中文 > 不信 )

Mark 6:5-6 ESV  And he could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them. And he marveled because of their unbelief. And he went about among the villages teaching.

A prayer over our own unbelief

Dear Heavenly Father,

I confess that I struggle with unbelief when my prayers are not being answered in the way I asked. It is all too tempting to begin doubting that You are a good God with good plans for me. I often forget that Your ways are higher than mine when I am attacked with thoughts of doubt, despair and discouragement. Please forgive me. I repent of my fear and unbelief.

Jeremiah 29:11 ESV  For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Isaiah 55:9 ESV  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Thank you that You remind me in Your Word that You will not forget me nor my prayers, in spite of my unbelief.

Isaiah 49:15 ESV  “Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you.

I am sorry for all the times I prayed only with my mouth, and my heart has not been pure before You. I am sorry whenever I have wrongly attributed bad things to You in the past, rather than to Satan who comes to steal and destroy. Thank you that You promise me an abundant life.

Isaiah 29:13 NIV  The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught.

John 10:10 ESV  The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

I willingly repent of all forms of pride, rebellion, fortune telling (divination), idol worship and witchcraft practices where I have submitted to Satan in the past. Please show me if there is any other darkness that I continue to carry so that I can remove them from my life.

1 Samuel 15:23 NIV  For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has rejected you …

Father, thank you that Your Word reminds me that before I come before You, I need to forgive those whom I hold grudges against. Today, I surrender the offences I remember and hold in my heart.

Mark 11:24-25 ESV  Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”

I choose to forgive those who have hurt me, including (list the names here), in Jesus’ name so that Satan cannot outwit me. Whatever schemes Satan is using to steal from my spiritual inheritance and the fruit of the Spirit, I now command the devil to stop in Jesus’ name.

2 Corinthians 2:10-11 NIV  Anyone you forgive, I also forgive. And what I have forgiven–if there was anything to forgive–I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.

Galatians 5:22-23 ESV  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Lord, if there is anything else that is blocking my prayers, I now humble myself and ask that You please show me what it is. Lord, please help me with any unbelief that still blocks me from You!

Psalm 19:14 ESV  Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.

Thank you that You promise to reward all those who seek You with a humble heart. Where my unbelief has separated me from You in the past, I now humbly draw close to You. Where I have been weary of waiting, please renew my strength.

Hebrews 11:6 ESV  And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Isaiah 40:31 ESV  but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

I wish to experience Your love with all its sweetness and joy. All things are possible for You and I will place my trust in You alone.

In Jesus’ name I pray, amen!”
